Coincidences

A good friend has been on my mind all day, after a long hard day toiling in the sun I relax on the porch and crack a cold beer. I dial the number, the phone doesn’t ring through but I hear a voice on the other end say hello, we hadn’t talked I over a month and she lives on the east coast. Somehow she has picked up the phone at the same time as I and we were connected without a single ring. Yesterday while driving down the road I was humming an old Don Williams tune, when I turned on the radio the song was just beginning to play. These kind of things happen to me all the time, I am not sure if I am in tune to these kind of happenings or if everyone else deals with these coincidences. While talking to a friend recently at a local fair, my wife told them about some folks she had used to fix our computer, shortly after we left they were surprised to meet those exact people. Coincidence? Or something else, I believe everything we experience in this world is connected in some way. Often these connections manifest themselves into tangible and clearly defined moments we as humans are able to notice if our senses are alert enough. Much like crossing a fresh grizzly track, though careful observation and knowledge gained through years in the wilds one can determine if there is a chance of coming across the bear, it‘s size and direction of travel. But what about those moments when there is no visible sign to read, yet you somehow know or feel the presence of the bear before you ever see it. Are our senses capable of determining things without physical evidence to support our findings. Are we given simple signs and clues in our every day to remind us of the circles within circles that fill our daily lives. No I have not lost my mind , but the spiritual side of me has been wondering if we were to recount all those coincidences and share our experiences, would we see even more connections together as a group and what would it all mean. An Indian friend of mine once related a story of finding two eagle feathers stuck in the ground when he was a young man, while riding my horse in the high country I was remembering his tale of the feathers and how spiritually aware he was regarding all things. Looking up at that exact moment I saw a golden eagle flying just above the treetops. Two feathers were missing from the eagle’s tail. I raised my arms to the sky and with tears on my cheeks remembered my dearly departed friend from so many years ago. Some would say that I am making more of things than is really there, I say thanks to the creator for the signs, for the chance to realize we are not alone and for the moments in this life that make me wonder. Hawk: The creator does allow us to see things as coincidence. We always have love for others in our head that is just waiting to be shared. Was it coincidence that I came to your sight today friend?

I used to have a good friend and she moved away to another state. When I would think about her strongly, she would call that day. Oftentimes when I call my son he will say, "I was just thinking about you!"

Those that believe in the Creator have a special bond with all things, Hawk.

I don't believe in coincidence and feel that every single thing in this world is connected to every other thing. Sometimes the connection is tangible, sometimes not.

Very mindful words and very well written.

Hi dear Hawk,

I think we are everything that IS. I don't think there is such a thing as making too much of something. We feel what feel, because we FEEL it. We see what see because we SEE it. No matter what anyone else believes I listen to LIFE. I don't obsess on things...but I do watch, listen and observe. I have had far too many of these occurrences to doubt them anymore. I believe the world is FULL of opportunities, communications, inter-relationships and stunningly beautiful magic...far more that most people ever realize or allow themselves to experience. And since (like I told you one other time) I have almost no grasp of time of distance, everything is happening right now for me. As if past, present and future are all happening at once.

I think we could go far overboard into our awareness of these things and still barely scratch the surface of what Life is telling us in every moment of our lives.

I am glad there were tears on your cheeks. I am glad you are aware of and listen to Life. We could never learn too much from Life. We do a lot of learning "about" life but often very little learning "from" life.

You learn "from" life...and will therefore see and feel and experience many things that others may not. Trust these things because they will take you a long way.

Again, beautiful heartfelt writing. It's real.
